Boat Hire
Boat Hire
Watching glistening water lap against your boat as you sit in the sunshine drinking a glass of wine is in my opinion one of the best ways to spend a day. It offers a level of tranquillity that I have never experienced on dry land. Unfortunately I have never been in a financial situation to own my own boat but over the last five years I have used the services of boat hire companies at least twice a year and have become a little bit obsessed with the activity if I am honest. I just do not see the point in any other form of vacation rental. Hiring your own boat for a week or two not only provides you with a place to sleep but a means of transportation and a venue for romantic dinners and lazy days spent doing nothing but watching the seagulls.
Many people are put off the idea of boat hire due to the belief in two popular misconceptions about boat hire. The first misconception is that they believe that experience is necessary. This is far from the case. The majority of people that can handle a boat confidently are boat owners and these are obviously not a good target market for boat hire companies. Therefore almost all boat hire companies are happy to either teach you how to handle the boat in the case of barges and canal boats or even provide you with a crew as is the case with sail boats and yachts. Therefore even somebody with no experience whatsoever can enjoy the pleasures of boat hire all around the UK.
The second misconception about boat hire is even further from the truth. People believe that boat hire is expensive when in fact, a holiday spent on a boat will generally be cheaper than one spent on dry land. The reason for this is that for a start, it is the same price to hire a boat for a week as it is to hire an apartment for four people for a week. The difference is however that when you have a boat you spend far less money. There is very little urge to go eat in a restaurant or drink in a bar when you could be eating and drinking on the deck of your boat for a fraction of the cost. Also because you have the option to be constantly moving, you can always find interesting things to see and do for free with new villages to be explored on a daily basis. This is compared to renting an apartment, seeing everything there is to see on the first day and then having to spend money on pointless things to entertain yourself with for the rest of the holiday.
In conclusion, if you have never tried boat hire then I think it is the perfect way for you to spend your next holiday. It is cheaper than a traditional holiday spent on dry land and you do not need to have any boating experience. It will provide you with a holiday so full of relaxation, romance and tranquillity that you may decide to never holiday on dry land again.
