Boats for Hire

If you are looking for boats for hire, perhaps you are one of those people that know quite a lot about them. If so then this article is not really for you. I used work for a company that specialised in boats for hire and I am aware that the majority of people interested in the activity have no experience in the area and usually ask the same questions. There are a lot of misconceptions about boats for hire and I will now try to dispel a few of them.

Misconception 1: Boats for hire cost a lot of money.

This is very far from the case. First of all they are not that expensive in the first place. They are considered luxury items and luxury items have greatly dropped in price due to the recession. Secondly you can sleep on the things. Therefore you're no longer paying for a hotel. Also consider that it is possible to leave your boat at beautiful places along the coast. You then wake up to magnificent views that the hotels around you are charging massive amounts of money for. Lastly, most people tend to spend far less money when they are living on a boat. Even the people that love the pub tend to find that drinking cheap supermarket wine on the deck of their boat while watching the sunset is far more fun then watching the football. The same applies to eating on deck rather than going to expensive restaurants.

Misconception 2: You need to know how to operate a boat.

This is a pretty stupid thing to believe when you really think about it. The majority of people that know how to handle a boat, own a boat and therefore they are not exactly the target market for companies that specialise in boats for hire. Companies that specialise in boats for hire are therefore more than willing to listen to stupid questions and show you exactly how to operate the boat as well as inform you of safety procedures and things like that. While sail boats are difficult to operate and a speed boat probably isn't a good idea for a boating virgin, many boats move relatively slowly compared to cars and all you really need to do is steer and avoid the coast.

Misconception 3: You need to stay onboard for days at a time.

This is the last of the major misconceptions about boats for hire. If you go out to sea, then you obviously need to stay on board the boat if you want to sleep and not be eaten by sharks. However if you stay by the coast, then you stay onboard just to sleep and maybe a few hours of moving along the coast each day. Once you find a marina, you simply park your choice out of the boats for hire and head off to experience a small town that you have arrived at just today. And new towns happen every day provided you keep moving therefore you experience far more than when you simply stay in one hotel. In other words, cheap boats for hire allow you to see more land, not less.
